Earlier in the week it was reported by Sport that Barcelona were closing in on a move for Nazareth worth around €500,000 (£424,000/$538,000). On Thursday, the European champions officially announced the transfer.

With Mariona Caldentey moving to Arsenal, Barcelona were in need of attacking reinforcements and few come better equipped to fill the void than 21-year-old Nazareth. The Portuguese star can play centrally or out wide and played a key role in helping Benfica win all four domestic trophies last season.
